We finally went canoeing ... FINALLY!
After we found our way (with the help of Paul, our guide)
The fellas launched the canoes (the fellas = Paul & Mark)
This is our friend Janine who is embarking on her very FIRST canoe trip!
If you click on this and enlarge the picture, you will see a beautiful doe (which Janine spotted -mountain/country girl's eyes!) having her morning forage ... simply GORGEOUS!
And here they are .... Janine & Mark on the water and on our way!
Oh my goodness - the views were absolutely "off the chart" spectacular! We are used to palmetto trees and moss with flat land ... it is NOT the same here!
We were in a bit of a residential area at first ... so GREEN!
Then it opened up and these beautiful rock faces with greenery coming out of them begin to appear. Paul & I were "gobsmacked"! Amazing!
There were so VERY cool bridges where lots of fish hung out! We were having to throw them out of the canoe (yeah, just kidding!)
Look this this rock face! OH Goodness! They were every where! With eagles/hawks nests and even heron! Mother Nature is incredible!
Long shot --- need I say more?
See the ripples in the water? Well, we even got to do some little #2 white water stuff! Oh my gosh, it was SO much fun! I think I even "yeehawed" across one of the rapids, which I'm sure was closer to 3 than 2! (those aren't in the Florida rivers that we canoed either!) Paul did a fabulous job of finding an absolutely incredible day's canoe trip!
Oh, and there were cows in the river! Lots of them!
And a railroad bridge!
Oh yeah, and a WATERFALL! How Cool is ThaT? None of those in the rivers we canoed in Florida either!
W.A.T.E.R.F.A.L.L. !! Beautiful!
Then it was time to leave and the beach we were going to take out on was in the midst of this! A real live honest to goodness Baptist full dunking baptism!!!! I've already used the words incredible, amazing, awesome, beautiful, and a bunch of others. I don't even know HOW to describe this, but it was truly an amazing site. I felt like I was right smack in the middle of "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou!" (the movie) It was seriously "made to order" for the day.
We got to watch a young man get dunked and baptized (note the gentleman with the red shirt and gray pants on the bank)
They dunked the young fella and his momma wrapped him up in a towel and dried him off after a HUGE round of applause from the congregation and EVERYONE on the river within clapping distance ... so cool!
Remember the man in the red shirt? ... this is that man being baptized .... fully dunked! No momma with a towel for him ... he just toughed it out ... no doubt in true euphoria anyway. This was a very unique and wonderful experience .... nary a one of the four of us had ever been baptized by dunking! And, yes, we've all been baptized in case you were curious!
We were invited to the revival that evening! -)
AN AWESOME DAY!
Life is So Good!
Cheers to allPaul & Cheri
You guys seemed to have seen and experienced a lot on your trip... the doe picture was cool, and I must say that I haven't seen an "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou!" baptism since I lived back in 'dem dare hills'...lol
ReplyDeleteLooked like fun, thanks for sharing
What is this river called??? That looks amazing! I wanna go! :-D I'm glad you were able to get out of the studio and enjoy the world outside again for a day.
ReplyDeleteYou all look like you were having a nice relaxing cruise down the river. The closest we came to getting into water (besides the shower) was all the rain we have had, Saturday was a nasty one!! Some nice pictures, glad you get to have some relaxation, enjoy before your cold weather comes in!!.
