A weekend Visitor!

Check Spelling

As you can see, we had a visitor come to see us over the weekend. It was great fun, as always, AND we are a little tired, as usual! Christian got to plant his very own 4 x 4 square in the Avant Garden. He chose corn, green beans, watermelon and sun flowers! He really wanted to plant mashed potatoes ... but after some explaining and gobs of persuading he went for the watermelon seeds! You can see here that Paul-Paul and he had a few rounds of Soccer Bopper fun. You can almost hear Christian giggling in the pictures. He was laughing so hard I thought we would all wet our pants! This is, after all, the best entertainment in the world!
So, thanks to Jenn & Vic for letting us exercise our grandparent rights for a few days! And thanks to Christian for being a kid!
Our niece, Erin is currently in Amsterdam (or is as I write on her way to Africa) and sends daily updates. She is having a wonderful time, and I must admit, I am very envious that I didn't take advantage of travel when I was her age. Oh well, hind sight, as they say! Please keep good thoughts for Erin and her friend, Lauren, as they make adventures in foreign lands, and see to it to help out with women who have been infected with HIV/AIDS for a month while they are on their journey.
Recital is around the corner, so costume mania has begun (along with other mania, which I'll spare you from hearing). Goodness knows how this will all end up, but that is the fun in annual recital time! The fear of the unknown! HA! Good luck to all of your recital participants out there! And congratulations to all you girls who made Bravettes!!!! How cool is that!!?? Now aren't you glad you had to do all of those stretches??? :-)
Life has taken a sharp right into FRANTIC for us right now and there just aren't so many hours in the day for things we used to take for granted. But we are certainly thankful that we have jobs and therefore, onward we march! Hope everyone is well! Please stay in touch! And by all means, have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
Cheers!

FINALLY!!!

The wonders of spring! There are truly seasons here ... one of the things we love the very most! Remember the robin's eggs from last post? Well, here are the babies ... hatched and thriving. The horse is one week old " "Lena's Twist of Fate" ... isn't he beautiful? The blossoms are cherry blossoms that made it through the late frost. We have several cherry trees that were absolutely covered in blossoms. For a few days it was snowing cherry blossoms, most of which have fallen by now! So much fun as we had no blossoms last year! We hoping for a great crop of cherries this summer. When we first looked at the house in June, Paul ate cherries from the tree. Maybe we'll relive that this year.
We have decided on some alternative planting this year, by which we will be planting our veggies in 4 foot by 4 foot squares. I was dishing out some serious teasing to Paul about doing "avant gardening" here in the heart of the country folk and about all the comments we would be getting from our all too concerned neighbors. I walked outside the next day to find our "Avant Garden" sign!!! Paul said not a soul knew what it meant or how to say it when he made it at work, but he got 3 orders for signs for people's gardens out of it!!! Paul put 'taters (potatoes) in Saturday, March 29th. Charles of course, came over to offer his expertise and guidance. We also had a friend of mine fertilize the lawn (which might have been an error in hindsight) and now we get to mow frequently. But it is a lovely green now! We do have access to a riding lawnmower thanks to our neighbor, but Paul has misplaced the key, so he's doing the "walk about" thing for now! Hope that key turn up before it's my turn to mow!! ;-)
My sister and her husband (Paul & Cyndie) have returned from their cruise, safe and sound. I'm so very glad they had a great time and a little R & R. We all need it. Her daughter, Hollie, has been working in Nashville on an Alan Jackson video of late. Cool, huh? Good luck, Hollie!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you mother's out there!!!! Hopefully every one of you will have an occasion to beam with pride on Sunday over something one or all of your sweet little chickens have done. Isn't it amazing. . . and wonderful!?! Nothing like it, no matter what they say!
All for now, should probably get back to work. We're looking forward to once again having internet and cable t.v. at the house, hopefully before the end of the month (depending on the installer's schedule). Will keep you all posted!
Happy Trails,
Paul & Cheri
